The Spotlight - Kunda Musonda
1. Tell us about yourself and what you do? Hello, my name is Kunda Musonda, I am an artist signed under the record label Norfolk in Lusaka, Zambia. I have two E.Ps, the first one is called born to sing which was released in 2016. This E.P is a reflection of myself and what I am supposed to be doing which is making music. My second E.P is called 3AM stories which was released in 2017. This E.P has got a lot of nostalgia in it, I named it 3AM stories because that is the time I wrote most of the songs. Apart from that, I have also recorded songs with Leo and the Disobedients.
2. What do you like doing in your spare time? I like playing video games, watching movies and playing the guitar of which I am self taught.
3. Who is your celebrity crush? And why? Tracee Ellis Ross, she is funny and inspiring.
4. What is your favourite movie? And why? Shawshank Redemption. It has so many life lessons but one of the major element, shows how love can come around despite certain situations.
5. What is your biggest/weirdest fear? My weirdest fear has to be live chickens! I was once chased by a chicken. Stay away from them, they are dangerous.
My biggest fear is anxiety.
6. What would be your one super power? If I would be invisible that would be great. Then people would not notice when I do silly stuff.
7. What's your one biggest pet peeve? People that speak close to your mouth, during a conversation.
8. What’s your sweet spot? The sound of new guitar strings and pizza.
9. What's your one annoying habit? I feel like I talk to much sometimes.
10. Who is your inspiration? Definitely Tracy Chapman, Michael Jackson, Bon Iver and Bob Marley. I can totally relate to their lyrical content. They are an inspiration both in music and in life. For instance, Bon Iver literally worked his way to the top.
11. What is your favourite song? Fast car by Tracy Chapman. The song has a strong storyline with a deep meaning, which i can relate to.
12. Where would you like to visit? And why? Venice, Italy, because it is beautiful and peaceful.
13. What projects are you currently working on? Right now, I am currently working on my debut album called 1997 which will be released soon. At the same time I am focussing on promoting the music that I made on my previse E.Ps.
14. Where do you see yourself in 2 years? I see myself graduating from Law school with a degree and finally being able to pressuring my dreams of becoming an artist full time.
15. What quote or motto do you live by? Don’t let other people tell you how to live.
